Patricia Kay Abshier Cooley

Patricia Kay Abshier Cooley, 70, a lifelong resident of Double Bayou, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026, in a Baytown hospital.

Patricia was born to Frederick, “Freddie,” William Abshier and Mary Jean Jackson Abshier at Chambers Memorial Hospital of Anahuac, Texas, on December 10, 1955. A Texan, through and through, she was the great-great-great-granddaughter of Humphrey Jackson, a native of Ballybay, Ireland, and early settler of Crosby, Texas; and of James Taylor White I of Louisiana, who founded the White Ranch of Turtle Bayou, Texas; as well as, the great-great-granddaughter of James Jackson, founder of the JHK Ranch of Double Bayou, Texas.

A graduate of Anahuac High School, Patricia went on to attend Sam Houston State University. She retired after working as an aide at Anahuac High School, and enjoyed watching sports, tending to her dogs and cattle, and enjoying the outdoors. She especially loved her grandchildren.

Mrs. Cooley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of forty years, Micheal, “Mike,” K. Cooley; son, Joshua, “Josh,” Abshier Cooley; and sister, Mary Louise Abshier Pierson.

She is survived by her son: Justin Cooley and wife, Aarika, and their children, Kamden, Kamry, Jax, and Jameson; sister, Jean Abshier and husband, Randy Forrest, with their children and grandchildren; brother-in-law, Windell Pierson; niece, Kristin Payne and husband, Clayton, with their children, Bransen and Braylee; sister-in-law, Charlotte Cooley; cousin, Robert Abshier and son, Leon Stern; cousin, Angelina Davis and husband, Ben; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
