Acadian Ambulance Service to begin operations in Liberty County at midnight April 1

Beginning just after midnight tonight, April 1, Liberty County’s ambulance service provider will officially transition from Allegiance Ambulance Service to Acadian Ambulance Service.

The change marks a significant shift in emergency medical services for the county, with Acadian promising expanded coverage and additional resources for the area.

According to information provided, Acadian plans to operate a total of seven ambulances stationed throughout Liberty County. Coverage is expected to include two units in the Plum Grove area, along with ambulances based in North Dayton, Moss Hill, and Westlake. One of the ambulances will be stationed from the new Liberty County ESD 7 fire station on SH 105 in Moss Hill. This marks the first time this community has had a dedicated ambulance.

The service will be supported by a mix of staffing schedules, including three 24-hour ambulance shifts, two 12-hour shifts, and two additional 12-hour reserve units intended to provide backup when needed.

Acadian Ambulance Service has a long history in emergency medical care. The company was founded in 1971 in Lafayette, Louisiana, where it began with just two ambulances and eight medics serving a single parish. Over the years, it has grown into one of the largest privately held ambulance providers in the nation.

The company expanded into Texas in 2006, initially serving as the 911 provider for Orange County. Today, Acadian operates in 35 counties across the state, including major metro areas such as Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio.

According to Acadian, its clinical work meets and exceeds industry standards, and the company reports a cardiac arrest resuscitation success rate that is 37 percent higher than the national average.

In addition to emergency response, the company has also focused on workforce development through its National EMS Academy. In 2025, the academy trained approximately 1,600 new emergency medical responders, EMTs, paramedics, and critical care transport paramedics across its service area.

The National EMS Academy offers EMT training at 14 campuses throughout the region. The closest locations for Liberty County residents are in Beaumont and Baytown. More information about classes is available at www.BecomeAMedic.com.
