The Libertad Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) held its first Good Citizen Winners’ Reunion on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the Liberty Church of Christ.

The Good Citizen Award is the most prestigious honor NSDAR presents to a young man or woman. For more than 75 years, the Libertad Chapter has recognized one senior from each of Liberty County’s six high schools.

Recipients are chosen by their peers based on four qualities: dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism.

Reunion chairman Catherine Kuchan presented a PowerPoint on the history of DAR and the Good Citizen Award, then shared biographies of past recipients who were unable to attend. Winners in attendance ranged from 1952 (Ann Westmoreland of Dayton High School) to 2026 (Elena Stivers and Addison Booker of Hardin High School). Each shared an update on their lives after high school.

Following the program, hostesses Alana Inman, Donna Davis, and Jo Ann Whittaker served refreshments while chapter members visited with the honorees.
