Elizabeth Ann Prater, age 74, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on March 25, 2026.
Elizabeth was born on August 22, 1951, in New Braunfels, Texas, to William Harold Prater and Ella Mae Dickenson. A lifelong resident of Dayton, she spent most of her life in the family home on Kay Street, a house that had stood for more than 100 years and held many cherished memories.
In her younger years, Elizabeth attended the Methodist church in Dayton. She enjoyed the simple things in life, especially watching movies, listening to Barry Manilow, and being a big fan of Harrison Ford. She also loved caring for her cats and spending time visiting with her cousins, family, and friends.
Elizabeth worked for many years as a legal secretary at Dresser Towers in Houston, dedicating 25 years of service. She also worked at First Liberty National Bank earlier in her career.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Harold Prater and Ella Mae Dickenson, and her sister, Minnealetha Ritchie.
Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Sue Felton and husband Alan; her nephews, Michael Felton and Mark Ritchie; her niece, Tamara Ritchie; and numerous cousins, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Palms Memorial Park.
Elizabeth will be remembered for her quiet nature, her love of family, and the comfort she found in the familiar places and people she held dear.
