Bernardo Rivas

Bernardo Rivas, 86, of Anahuac, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026, at MD Anderson in Houston.

Bernardo was born August 13, 1939, in Dolores Hidalgo Guanajuato Mexico, to parents; Lucas Rivas Garcia and Inez Hernandez Rivas, and has resided in Anahuac since 1974. He was a retired cattle rancher, member of Our Lady of Light Catholic Church, and the Nocturnal Adoration Society. Bernardo enjoyed his cattle ranching and spending time with his family.

Mr. Rivas was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Regina Velarde, brother: Casimiro Rivas, and granddaughter: Diana Teresa Rivas. He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Cira Rodriguez Rivas, children: Marina Muñiz and husband Jose, Gilberto Rivas, Lucas Rivas, Rocio Rivas, Camerino Rivas, and Jose Osiel Rivas and wife Julia, siblings: Lucas Rivas, Margarita Rivas, Juan Rivas, Isaias Rivas, and Federico Rivas, grandchildren: Jaime Rivas(Victoria), Aaron Martinez, Yasmin Rivas, Victoria Rivas, Ivette Rivas, Emily Muniz, Kaylen Rivas, Adam Rivas, Alex Rivas, Evan Muniz, Scott Mathes, Martha Mathes, Allison Womack(Bryce), Rachael Thomas(Ty), Mitchell Hargraves (Marlee), great-grandchildren: Aiden Rivas, Aaron Rivas, Arianna Rivas, Abigail Rivas, Mila Dyer, and Liam Womack, numerous other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Anahuac. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church with interment following at Anahuac Cemetery.
