A Trinity County grand jury has indicted a lieutenant with the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office on a third-degree felony charge of harassment.
Nathan Deweese was indicted Friday, April 10, after evidence was presented to the grand jury by the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office.
According to officials, the charge stems from an investigation into allegations that Deweese made repeated unwanted telephone calls to a Trinity County resident over several months. Authorities said the calls were made from a blocked number and contained harassing content.
The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office cooperated fully with the investigation. Due to the nature of the complaint and to ensure transparency and impartiality, Trinity County officials presented the case directly to a grand jury before any arrest was made.
Following the indictment, Deweese was allowed to turn himself in at the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office, where he was magistrated by a San Jacinto County judge.
The case remains under the jurisdiction of the Trinity County District Attorney’s Office. No additional information has been released.
