A Dayton area man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal house fire that occurred March 26 in the Westlake area.
Michael Shane Linkinhoker, 45, was taken into custody April 10 and charged with arson and manslaughter. His bonds total $1 million.
The fire occurred on CR 4267, off FM 1409, and claimed the life of Linkinhoker’s mother, who resided in the home. Authorities said Linkinhoker was present at the residence at the time of the fire.
According to Liberty County Fire Marshal Nathan Green, the fire was determined not to be accidental, leading to the charges filed against Linkinhoker.
If Linkinhoker’s name sounds familiar, it may be due to a previous case in Liberty County. In 2011, he was convicted in a hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of 15-year-old Charli Gore.
Gore had attended an impromptu party in the Westlake area and was walking along the roadway when she was struck and killed.
In that case, Linkinhoker was sentenced to five years in prison with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
The investigation into the March 26 fire remains ongoing.
