Teen driver killed in accident in Winnie

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated a one-vehicle crash on First Street, in Winnie, that occurred Friday, April 10, 2026.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 8:46 p.m., a 2011 Nissan Rouge was traveling south. It is reported that the driver of the Nissan was driving at an unsafe speed, disregarding a stop sign, left the roadway, and struck a solid fixture.

The driver of the Nissan, identified as a minor, was pronounced deceased on scene. One passenger, identified as a minor, was transported to Winnie Community Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
