Patricia Ann Brackin, 70, of Thicket, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sept. 9, 2026, in Houston, Texas, with both of her daughters by her side. She was born on Dec. 3, 1955, in Orange, Texas.
Patricia dedicated 30 years of her life to caring for others as a nursing home caregiver, a job she truly loved. She retired just three years ago from Fairy’s Landing in Hull, Texas.
Patricia found joy in the simple things in life, especially “piddling around” outside. She loved her daily routine of riding her golf cart to her brother’s house every morning for coffee and to feed the deer. Although she enjoyed taking an annual vacation, she often chose to stay home because she truly loved living in Thicket.
A devoted Elvis fan, Patricia was known for being incredibly strong and resilient. Those who knew her often described her as being “tough as ol’ Thicket boot leather.” She never complained about being sick and continued to show that same strength even while in the hospital, where she welcomed the many family members and friends who came to visit her.
Patricia is survived by her children, Chassity DeBerry and husband Craig of Devers, and Stephanie Smith of Kemmerer, Wyoming; her grandchildren, Ben Bybee and wife Kayleigh, Andrew Lucas and wife Dawn, Isaac DeBerry, Michael DeBerry, and Zak DeBerry; and great grandchild Esmae Lucas.
She is also survived by her brother, Herbert Brackin of Thicket, and her sister, Audrey Robinson of Batson.
Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved parents, J.L. and Dorothy Brackin of Thicket.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, beginning at 1 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Faith and Family Funeral Services in Batson. Burial will follow at Felps Cemetery in Thicket.
Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Brackin, Colten Brackin, Kade Brackin, Craig DeBerry, Isaac DeBerry, Zak DeBerry, Ben Bybee, and Phillip Mouton with Michael DeBerry serving as honorary pallbearer.
Patricia will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Her strength, kindness, and love for the simple things in life will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind
