Vivian Earl “V.E.” Burney

Vivian Earl “V.E.” Burney, 88, of Liberty passed away July 8, 2018 in Beaumont, Texas. He was born August 29, 1929 in Daisetta, Texas to parents J.D. Burney, Sr. and Doris Mary Paxton Burney.

Graveside service for Mr. Burney will be11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Oakdale Cemetery in Daisetta, Texas. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mr. Burney was a lifelong resident of the Liberty area. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 1193 in Hull and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. V.E. served during the Korean War in the United States Army. He worked for Texaco for over 39 years before retiring.

V.E. was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert P. Burney and J.D. Burney, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Shirley Harrington Burney of Liberty; stepson, Wendell Prejean and wife Gayle; nephew, Robert Paxton Burney and wife Sue and their family; numerous other relatives and friends.
