Dayton City Council Monday night accepted the resignation of Police Chief John Headrick. According to Dayton City Manager Theo Melancon, Headrick tendered his resignation in order to pursue personal projects.
Melancon indicated the city will be looking to hire a police chief from outside the current ranks. An interim police chief will be appointed in the coming days. Meanwhile, Dayton Police Capt. John Coleman, with the guidance of Melancon, will manage the affairs of the police department.
