Leonard Ray Ashford

Leonard Ray Ashford, 68, of Liberty passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018. He was born October 21, 1949 in Houston, Texas to parents Elray Ashford and Etha Maurice Hodges Ashford.

Services for Mr. Ashford will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 28, 2018
at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. The family will receive friends 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Leonard was graduate of Wharton High School and had worked for Celanese for 35 years. He enjoyed watching football, shooting pool, dancing, watching westerns and rodeos. Lee loved his family, friends, and every child he met, offering his love and kindness generously and never asking much in return. He loved to make people happy and that was his way of making himself happy.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Eddie Marie Yeager. He is survived by his wife of nearly 8 years Kelly Denise Ashford of Liberty; his children, Bradley Ashford, Kelsey Ashford Phipps, Jessica Ashford Contreas, Jereb Ashford and Jason Ashford; fourteen grandchildren; sisters, June Jansky and Linda Fletcher; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
