Man arrested in Louisiana for kidnapping Liberty woman

Lake Charles police arrested a Liberty, Texas, man Saturday on charges of second-degree kidnapping.

Juan Carlos Saucedo, 27, is accused of kidnapping a Liberty woman and transporting her to Louisiana, and sexually assaulting her along the way.

On Saturday, at around 2 a.m., the female victim escaped her alleged captor at a convenience store in the 3500 block of Highway 14 in Lake Charles. Once free, she called 9-1-1 to report the incident.

When authorities arrived, they arrested Saucedo and booked him into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center, where he is being held on a $100,000 bond, a detainer for Liberty County, Texas, and a federal detainer.

LCSO Capt. Billy Knox said Liberty County is working on the alleged kidnapping case at this time and detectives have communicated with the alleged victim.

According to Knox, charges against Saucedo may also be filed in Chambers County where the alleged sexual assault is believed to have taken place.
