Dennie Ledell Johnson Jr.

On March 24, 1965 a baby boy was born to Dennie and Leatrice Johnson, Liberty, Texas.  He was named Dennie Ledell Johnson Jr.  At an early age Dennie Jr. accepted Christ and was baptized by Rev. P. J. Walker at St. Miles Missionary Baptist Church, Ames, Texas.

Dennie Jr. attended Devers Elementary School in Devers, Texas and graduated from Liberty High School in Liberty, Texas. He also joined the Job Corps in Roswell, New Mexico for three years.  Later returning to the Baytown and Houston area he worked for a Moving Van Company until his health failed.

Dennie Jr united with Galilee Baptist Church under the leadership of  Rev.Randy Vaughn and later with Omega Gospel Ministries under the leadership of  Pastor Pat Johnson until death.

On September 26, 2018 Dennie Jr. departed this life in Baytown, Texas.

Dennie Jr. is preceded in death by his brothers: Michael Ledell Johnson and Lyndon Baines Johnson; grandparents: Jack and Lenora Simmons and Charles and Eula Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memory: one daughter; Alexis Nechelle Johnson of Houston, Texas: parents Dennie and Leatrice Johnson of Ames, Texas; one sister Evelyn D. Jefferson of Baytown, Texas: one brother Aaron Johnson of Rayne, Louisiana: and a host of other relatives and  friends.

Before creating Bluebonnet News in 2018, Vanesa Brashier was a community editor for the Houston Chronicle/Houston Community Newspapers.
