1 teen killed, three injured in crash near Coldspring

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on FM 222 in San Jacinto County around 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26. The crash occurred approximately five miles northwest of Coldspring, near FM 3278.

Initial reports indicate that a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling westbound on FM 222.  The driver entered a curve at an unsafe speed and lost control. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a utility pole.  After striking the utility pole, the vehicle rolled into the woods.

The driver, an 18-year-old Billy Lee Crowson III of New Waverly, was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace McGee at the scene.

One of the three passengers, 17-year-old Brianna Hudson of New Waverly, was transported to Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston with serious injuries.

A second passenger, 18-year-old Keonna White, was transported to Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston with critical injuries.  She is a senior at Coldspring-Oakhurst High School and lives in Coldspring.

The third passenger, 19-year-old Breonnia White, was transported by her mother to Hermann Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.  She resides in Coldspring.

All information is preliminary as Troopers continue to investigate this fatal crash.
