Margaret Jean Smart

Margaret Jean Smart, 87, of Liberty, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Kingwood, Texas. She was born on February 23, 1931 in Fred, Texas to the late Roy and Alice Martin Hutto. Margaret graduated from Spurger High School in 1949. She was an active member of the Bethel Assembly of God in Liberty until 2008.

Margaret was a loving and kind soul who would do anything for anyone. She was also very feisty at times. Margaret enjoyed fishing and camping; she always hated having to go back home from her camping trips. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Royce Smart; her son Kenneth Wayne Smart; her sister Martha Gore; her brother Robert Hutto; and son-in-law Paul Fiedler. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her children Janelle Ballinger and husband Wayne of Wallisville, Sheila Fiedler of Orange, Melinda Caldwell and husband Ronnie of Atascocita and Chris Smart and wife Carrie of Liberty; her ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; her siblings Douglas Hutto and wife Janice of Granbury and Yvonne Davis of Alvin; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers are Aaron Ballinger, Jeff Benson, Chayse Taylor, Trad Taylor, Kody Fiedler and Ken Geisendorff.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5pm until 7pm on Thursday, November 1, 2018 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Sterling Funeral Home. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Fairlawn Cemetery in Liberty.
