San Jacinto County sheriff’s deputies reportedly stop robbery in progress

One robbery suspect was shot by law enforcement and two others fled the area following an alleged armed robbery of the Dollar General store in the 12100 block of FM 2025 near Cleveland around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3.

According to a statement from Capt. Joe Schultea, spokesperson for the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and detectives observed the aggravated robbery in progress.

“As the three black male suspects fled the store, all with weapons, the suspects pointed their weapons at deputies. Deputies fired upon the suspects, striking one,” Schultea said. “The other two suspects fled into a heavily wooded area. The stolen money was recovered in the parking lot.”

The injured suspect was transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Sheriff Greg Capers requested the Texas Rangers to assist with the investigation.

Anyone with information about the identities of the two remaining suspects is asked to contact investigators at the San Jacinto County Sheriff by calling 936-653-4357.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation and no additional information is available for release at this time,” Schultea said.
