Routine traffic stop in Dayton results in fugitive’s arrest

Liberty County Pct. 4 deputy constables were conducting routine patrols in the Woodland Hills Subdivision in the Dayton area on Monday, Dec. 17, when a black Jeep Cherokee reportedly disregarded a stop sign.

During a traffic stop by the deputy constables, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle, Jeffery Scott Holmes, 54, was a fugitive of justice from the state of Missouri, according to Pct. 4 Constable Robby Thornton. The vehicle Holmes was driving was reported as stolen out of Missouri.

Holmes was arrested and transported to the Liberty County jail where he is being held without bond as he awaits extradition to Missouri. Jail reports show that Holmes has been held at the Liberty County Jail on numerous other occasions for charges ranging from public intoxication, evading arrest, terroristic threats, theft and assault.

A vehicle reported as stolen out of Missouri was recovered by Liberty County Pct. 4 deputy constables on Monday in the Woodland Hills Subdivision in Dayton.
