Rosa Lee Carpenter

Rosa Lee Carpenter, 93, of Hardin, Texas passed away, Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Magnolia Place Healthcare surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 24, 1925 in Anson, Texas to Clee William Fitzgerald and Juanita Mearl Rector Fitzgerald.

Rosa was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. The oldest of seven children, she was a true caretaker from a very early age. Rosa was a responsible person and you could always depend on her. She loved her family fiercely and took great pride in having raised her children in the church and instilling them with good values. She truly enjoyed cooking large family meals but most of all she just loved spending time with her family.

Rosa gave her children wonderful Christmases and memories for them to cherish forever. She enjoyed being a homemaker and tending to her yard. And, while she loved to cook, she also enjoyed going out to eat. In her spare time, she liked to watch the Turner classic movie channel. She also liked to watch Everybody loves Raymond and Golden Girls. Rosa will be missed by all those fortunate enough to have met her.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents; Clee and Juanita Fitzgerald; Daughter, Linda Dale Smith; Sisters, Juanita Jean Fitzgerald, Betty Jean Fitzgerald, Oletha Overbay; Brothers, Leonard Fitzgerald, Alton Fitzgerald and Cleon Fitzgerald. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, Daughters Brenda Cammareri of Hardin, Connie Smith and husband Richard of Dayton, Janice Hill of Missouri City, Darla Porter and husband Bert David of Hardin; son Curtis Porter and wife Rhonda of Hardin; step-sons Keith Carpenter and wife Michele of Hardin, Roland Carpenter and wife Gloria of Arizona; seventeen Grandchildren, thirty-three Great-Grandchildren, nine Great-Great-Grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers are Michael Cammareri, Jim Passmore, Jason Passmore, George Green, Bert David and Mike Wagner. Pastor Gideon Watson of Hardin Methodist Church will be officiating.

Friends are invited to visit with family from 5pm until 8pm on Friday, January 4, 2019 in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis, Liberty, Texas 77575. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10:30am at Allison Funeral Service. A graveside service will immediately follow at Hardin Chapel Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Magnolia Place Healthcare and Kindred hospice for the excellent care for Rosa.
