Texas Emergency Hospital opened its cafeteria to patients, staff and the public in October 2018.
“It’s a gathering place for local organizations, or simply where someone can go to grab a cup of coffee,” explained COO Patti Foster.
The vision of opening the doors to the cafeteria has always been to be able to provide quality, healthy food options.
“We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner to our patients 365 days a year,” explained Foster. “We serve breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday to staff and the community.”
Foster also detailed how the café has added to the sense of community – both at the hospital and with the general public.
Since the grand opening, the restaurant has hosted a Chamber of Commerce meeting, the Principal for a Day luncheon, a catered Christmas event for the Lions Club, and live radio broadcasts of KORG 95.3.
“We are looking to grow and provide even more catering opportunities for the community,” said Foster.
Cafeteria Director Mary Richeson is the driving force behind the menu and keeping the operation running smoothly each day.
“We always strive to be consistent, so people know the food is always good,” said Richeson. “We want people to come in and taste it.”
Six couples have already become regular customers visiting at least once a week since the October opening, according to Richeson.
Visitors will see staples on the menu everyday such as the omelet bar and salad bar, but there are also specialties such as pasta, a nacho bar, or baked potato bar.

A full breakfast includes the omelet bar, eggs cooked-to-order, fresh fruit, anything on the line and coffee or juice for $6.75.
The full lunch includes the salad bar, anything on the line, a drink and dessert for $6.98.
“We are welcoming everyone to come in,” said Foster.
Texas Emergency Hospital Cafeteria is located on the hospital campus at 300 E Crockett St in Cleveland.
The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for lunch.
