Raymond Douglas Clifton, age 68 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019. He was born March 18, 1950 in Laurel, Mississippi to parents Ed Clifton and Thelma Vonta Andrews Clifton who preceded him in death along with his grandparents, Charles Andrews, Ada Dunham-Andrews, Charlie Clifton, and Mary Edwards; sister, Lois Ann Hinton; and brother, Johnnie Clifton.
Mr. Clifton was the ultimate outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, and train his dogs. He enjoyed sitting on his porch drinking coffee and was a great storyteller. He loved to have fun and was well-liked by everyone who knew him. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife, Brenda Clifton; daughter, Sandy Bowen and husband Ray; sons, Johnnie Clifton and wife Jennifer, and Michael Clifton; sisters, Polly Johnson and husband Wayne, and Joyce Clifton-Crabill and husband David; brothers, Joe Clifton and wife Joyce, Earl Clifton and wife Darlene, Keith Clifton, and Lee Clifton; grandchildren, Dustin Clifton and wife Caitlyn, Brooke Bowen, Kacie Bowen, Johnny Ray Clifton, and Derek Clifton; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 14, 2019 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas officiated by Bro. Troy Moore. Interment will follow at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
