Just after midnight Sunday, Liberty police were dispatched to Outlaw Jacks, on the 3200 block of Beaumont Ave., regarding a shooting.

According to Lt. Chip Fairchild, spokesperson for Liberty Police Department, when police arrived they found a man lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

“We arrested one subject at the scene. He has been charged with Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon, which is a first-degree felony,” Fairchild said. “We collected a lot of statements from witnesses to try to understand what it was about. Our understanding is there was a disagreement between the two men in the parking lot outside the bar that escalated.”

Vacha, Dustin Michael Ray

The injured man was airlifted by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston where he reportedly is undergoing surgery.

“He was in critical condition the last I heard,” Fairchild said.

Charges against the alleged shooter, identified as Michael Ray “Dustin” Vacha, 25, of Pleasant Valley, Mo., will change if the victim does not survive, the lieutenant added.

Updates will be posted as warranted.
