Dr. Don Michael Shannon

Dr. Don Michael Shannon, age 73 of Coldspring, Texas, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019. He was born May 18, 1945 in Beaumont, Texas to Carlton Lynn and Margaret Evangeline Miller Shannon who preceded him in death.

Dr. Shannon was the pastor of First Baptist Church, Coldspring, Texas for 47 years. He had a Bachelor’s Degree from HBU, Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Doctor of Theology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Survivors include his loving wife, Beverly Shannon; daughters, Kelly Ann Shannon and Melissa Ann Valentine; son, Michael Patrick Shannon; brothers, Lynn Carlton Shannon, and Craig Miller Shannon; grandchildren, Sarah Santy, Emily Clark, Claire Valentine, and Scott Valentine; numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Coldspring, Texas. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Coldspring. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Coldspring.

I remember the 1st time I met I was getting dressed for my wedding at Mary Basie in cold spring he came in to meet me he said Ihe has good new and bad news the bad new he’s not through growing yet good new is the groom just showed up he did the wedding of a dream of mine on a hill top it was a magical day I still remember it after 39 years and Mr Shannon made me feel so relaxed I am so sorry for your loss My Shannon was well know later in years I was working at a assisted living in Kingwood and I met a cute couple DON and WILLA they was also a member of the first baptize church of cold spring they was shocked and so was I to find out the man who performed my wedding was there preacher. I just wonted to share a memory that reminded god bless the family MR Sharron was a really nice man and again I am sorry for ur loss
