Liberty County Pct. 5 Deputy Constable Laci Lognion Pierce received a letter of commendation Friday, Feb. 1, from Sgt. Robert Willoughby with the Liberty County office for the Texas Department of Public Safety.
In the letter, Willoughby praises Pierce for using her medical training in a tragic auto accident on Jan. 25, 2019, in Tarkington. Three members of the same family were killed and one remains in critical condition in Memorial Hermann Hospital.
“Deputy Pierce showed no hesitation while transitioning from her role as a peace officer to a medical provider and back to a peace officer,” Willoughby wrote. “Deputy Pierce utilized her medical training, providing numerous live-saving techniques, which gave the most critically injured patients a chance at survival.”
Willoughby credits Pierce with prolonging the life of the crash victim still in critical condition.
Willoughby goes on to explain how Pierce showed compassion and care for a family member of the crash victims who arrived on the scene.
“It is my professional opinion that Deputy Pierce’s quick-thinking, knowledge and execution of professional skills provided both of the critically injured victims a chance at survival. Deputy Pierce is an asset to the Pct. 5 Constable’s Office and I feel she should be commended for her actions,” Willoughby said.
