Police say a broken window at Golden’s Furniture was not a “smash and grab” attempt. Instead it appears that the window was broken when someone accidentally backed into the building.

“It appears they hit the cement wall, which is about 12-18 inches high, then pushed it back and broke the glass,” said Lt. Chip Fairchild, spokesperson for Liberty Police Department. “Nothing was stolen. Entry was not made into the building.”

The incident took place around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Golden’s Furniture, located 2212 N. Main St. in Liberty.

“I think someone accidentally drove over the curb and into the wall. It does not appear to be a theft attempt. This is not the type of business and this location is not where smash-and-grabs typically occur,” Fairchild said.

If anyone knows anything about the damage to the storefront, please call Liberty Police Department at 936-336-5666.
