Esther Mae McLendon

Esther Mae McLendon, age 86 of Cleveland, Texas died February 16, 2019 while at home in hospice care. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m. Friday, February 22, 2019 at Brookside Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

Esther was born December 8, 1932 in Galveston, Texas. She worked for Hydril in Houston, Texas for over 25 years serving as their Payroll Supervisor. Esther loved camping, gardening, bird watching and her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years D.J. McLendon; mother Bertha Couch Dyck; sister Thelma Heeth; granddaughter Katie Mae Helen Hughes and grandson Billy Joe Hughes.

Survivors include her son Wesley Simpson and wife Cyndi; son Michael Simpson and wife Pam; daughter Cynthia Barton and husband Jimmy; daughter Rebecca Knoles and husband Rick and daughter Ella Neutzler and husband Jay. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or UNICEF.
