27 DRESSES: Non-profit selling gently-used formal gowns in time for prom

Prom season is right around the corner. To help local young ladies find the perfect dress for the occasion, 27 Dresses, a local non-profit, is planning its Fifth Annual Dress Extravaganza on March 29-30.

The purpose of the event is to provide area families with a lower-cost alternative to traditional prom dress shopping. All dresses will be offered for $50 or less, and all proceeds benefit scholarships for local seniors and contributions to other local non-profits.

This year’s event will be held in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church in Cleveland. The hours are 3 to 6 p.m. on March 29 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 30.

To donate a stylish gown, drop-offs are being taken at Texan Mattress, 107 N. College Ave., Cleveland, and Once Loved in Texas, 619 N. Main St., Liberty. Dresses are also being collected in the Cypress area. To volunteer the week of the event, please visit the 27 Dresses Facebook page.

Due to generous donations from Bella Bridesmaids in Cypress, the dress extravaganza also will be a great place for coordinating bridesmaid dresses.
