Richard “Ricky” Lee Skarpa, 64, was born in Dayton, Texas on August 22, 1954 and passed away at home on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 with his beloved wife and daughter by his side. He graduated from Dayton High School in 1972 and began his career in law enforcement. On April 1, 2000, he married the love of his life, Debbie Skarpa and they were married for 19 years.
His passions included policing, motorcycle police escorts, hunting, fishing, and boating in the bay. One of his biggest passions were teaching his grandchildren the importance of gun safety, and spending time with his beloved “Zoom Cat”.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Skarpa. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Skarpa of Dayton; mother, Earlene Skarpa of Dayton; sisters, Peggy Wallett and Sandra Nona; daughters, Barbie Skarpa and Brandi Grimes; son, Bobby Skarpa; stepsons, Jonathon Collier and Thomas Collier; grandchildren, Austin, Taylor, Cameron, Aiden, Grayson, Sidnii, Brianna, Caden, and Kinsley; one great grandchild, Brailah; numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday evening, March 22, 2019 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Service for Ricky will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
