The success of Dayton Police Department’s inaugural Coffee With a Cop-Donuts with Dispatch on March 20 will likely lead to it being a monthly event, according to Dayton Police Chief Robert Vine.
Approximately three dozen police officers, city staff and residents of Dayton turned out for the event, which was held in the senior citizen dining room inside Dayton Community Center.
Residents were able to meet Vine, who started with the city on Jan. 7, after previously leading the Gladewater Police Department. In addition to serving as chief in Dayton, Vine is the deputy city manager working alongside City Manager Theo Melancon, who also came to Dayton by way of Gladewater.
