Cleveland Senior Center gets much-needed financial boost from Spring Fling fundraiser

Members of Tarkington Prairie Masonic Lodge #498 and the Texas Masonic Charities Foundation jointly donated $1,000 to the Cleveland Senior Citizens Center's Meals on Wheels program during the center's Spring Fling event on Friday, March 22.   • Jimmy McNorton cheerfully hands over a $525 check to the Cleveland Senior Citizens Center following a cake auction on Friday, March 22. He was the top bidder on eight desserts that were sold in an auction fundraiser for the center. McNorton joked that it wasn’t even the biggest check he has written to the senior center in recent months. Though he wouldn’t say exactly how much he donated previously, his friends say his generosity was about 10 times the amount he donated on Friday, March 23, at the Spring Fling. The center relies on donations to feed homebound senior citizens in north Liberty County.
  • Calvary Baptist Church’s Rev. Carl Williamson and his wife, Sandy, team up to auction items during Spring Fling on March 22. The event is an annual fundraiser for the Cleveland Senior Citizens Center.
