Vernon W. Sword

With family by his side, Vernon W. Sword went to be with his Lord and Savior from his home in Kingwood on April 8th, 2019, at 6 am. At his passing, Vernon was 72-years-old.

Vernon is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Sue Sword; daughters, Charlotte Schilten and Melisa Martin, and son-in-law, Travis Martin; sister, Thelma Stephens, and brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Wanda Sword; grandchildren, David Schilten and wife, Claudia, Lynox Cloud, Travis Martin Jr., Payton Maness and husband, Jack, and Justin Martin; great-grandchildren, Jack Maness Jr. and Shane Schilten, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Myrtle Sword; brothers, Clarence, Marion, and Harold Sword; sisters Anna Miller and Charlotte Sword, and son-in-law, Rien Schilten.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, April 13th, at Pace Stancil Funeral Home. Pastor Melvin Holifield will speak a few words and a presentation of the American flag will follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Vernon’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Vernon Sword’s Memorial Funeral Fund via Facebook. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Memorial Hermann Hospice Care for their kindness and dedication to Vernon’s health and wellbeing during these last few months.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.
