Dollar General says it is considering a location in the Moss Hill community of Liberty County. The prospective store would be located at 138 State Highway 105, said Dollar General spokesperson Mary Kathryn Colbert.
According to Colbert, Dollar General is currently in the due diligence phase for the new store.
“That means we are reviewing the opportunity to add a new store in the area, but we have not yet committed to doing so just yet,” she said. “Based on our current timeline, we anticipate to have a final decision on this by late summer 2019.”
Based on the operations of other stores similar in size, the new store would employ approximately 6-10 people, depending on the individual needs of the store.
“We are also under construction on a new location in Cleveland, Texas, at 1888 FM 1010. We anticipate opening this location in the coming weeks,” said Colbert, adding that the Plum Grove store will employ 6-10 people.
Neither the Plum Grove location nor the proposed Moss Hill location will carry produce. The Tarkington location, which reopened this spring after a fire, now carries a small variety of produce items.
In recent years, Dollar General has invested in a number of locations throughout Liberty County. At this current time, and not including the Plum Grove or Moss Hill locations, Dollar General has 14 stores open to serve customers.
