Joy Lucine Hortman-Dowdell

Joy Lucine Hortman-Dowdell, 71, of Daisetta passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019, at The Oaks at Beaumont in Beaumont, TX. She was born July 16, 1947, in Liberty, TX to the late Charles and Joyce Arnold Sanders. Mrs. Dowdell lived most of her life in the Daisetta area where she was a homemaker. She loved her family and faithfully served the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, William Hortman, and Joe Dowdell; son, Troy Hortman; and sister, Judy Bracewell.

Those left to cherish her memory are; son, Donald Hortman of Daisetta; daughters, Terrie Humphries and husband William of Fort Worth, TX, and Pam Davis and husband Steven of Baytown; step-sons, Michael Dowdell Sr. and wife Stacy, William Dowdell, and Raymond Dowdell and wife Elizabeth; brother, Harold Sanders and wife May of Daisetta; sisters, Charlene Macip and husband Bruce of Denton, TX, and Mary Jennings and husband Gene of Liberty; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, extended grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of loving family and friends.

A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at LifePoint Church in Daisetta, TX with Reverend Brad Davis officiating, interment will follow at Holly Grove Cemetery in Livingston, TX. A gathering of Mrs. Dowdell’s family and friends will be Monday, April 15, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at LifePoint Church in Daisetta.

Honoring Mrs. Dowdell as pallbearers will be William Humphries, Gene Jennings, Luke Jackson, Triston Tousha, Adam Davis, and Matthew Hortman.
