The $102 million project to widen and convert US 59 into I 69 is now underway, according to a statement released Tuesday by the Texas Department of Transportation.
“Over the next few months, drivers can expect to see James Construction, LLC crews beginning to work on the new southbound frontage road. When the overall project is completed in 2021, the roadway will include three lanes in each direction with continuous frontage roads, and the intersection at SH 105 will be reconstructed into a traditional style interchange connected to the frontage roads,” the statement reads.
Once construction is complete, the four-mile stretch of roadway will be redesignated as I-69.
