The Liberty Whataburger family is mourning the loss of a 15-year employee, Robert Marberry, who was killed Sunday in a car crash on SH 61 south of Devers. As a way of honoring Marberry, an orange-and-white wreath now sits in front of the register where he greeted customers each day.
“We are keeping his register off for the rest of the month,” said Manager MeLisa Pskowski-Casey. “We are also asking for donations to help his family with funeral arrangements.”
Restaurant staff have collected some of their favorite photos of Marberry and placed them on a posterboard-sized card and are inviting restaurant patrons and employees to sign it with messages to Marberry and his family.
“He was a great guy. You can ask any of the employees and customers here. He was well loved by the community,” she said.
According to Pskowski-Casey, a Facebook fundraiser has been established by the restaurant’s general manager, Cindy Hall. Anyone who want to make a donation to the Facebook fundraiser can do so by going online to

Donations can be made at the Liberty restaurant either by walking inside and dropping a donation into the collection jar or at the drive-through window, Pskowski said.
