Lorna Barchard, 78, of Dayton, Texas passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019, after a long battle with dementia and chronic pain.
She was the daughter of Clyde and Lois Barchard who preceded her in death. Her sister, Lynda, also preceded her in death.
Lorna
loved being a mother and grandmother and was passionate in her role as a
nurse in hospitals and doctor offices throughout her adult life. One
of her favorite part-time jobs was working in a little place called The
Cider House in Nashville, Indiana.
There, she enjoyed watching people and talking with them. One of her
favorite stories of that experience was when a man came up to her and
asked her, “Where did you get all of these old buildings?” Combining
her wit and intelligence, she replied, “Well, we just built them and
waited for them to get old.” Her sense of humor will be missed by all
who knew her.
She is survived by her sister, Susan (Mark); sons, Tom
(Linda), Ric (Christy); daughter, Dri (Stu); honorary daughter, Loretta;
grandson, Phillip (Shelby); and granddaughter, Alyssa (Michael).
A
memorial service will not be held as her friends and family are mostly
in Florida, Indiana, and Ohio…and scattered about the USA. Lorna will
be buried in an urn with her sister, Lynda, in Ohio sharing their
mother’s grave plot next to their father. Please, remember her in your
own way which is a celebration of your relationship with her.
