Astros’ mascot Orbit coming to Dayton library

Orbit, the mascot for the 2017 World Series champion Houston Astros, is coming to the Jones Public Library on July 1.

The beloved mascot will be at the library around 10 a.m. to help kick off the Summer Reading Program. He will be part of a 45-minute program that stresses the importance of reading.

The program is free to anyone who wishes to attend. Parents are encouraged to bring a camera or cell phone so they can snap a photo of their child with Orbit, as he will be available for photos after the presentation.

Chicken Express is providing cookies and tea. After the presentation, participants will move to the patio for a community art project.

Doors open at 9 a.m., so come early and get a good seat.
