Cleveland funeral home giving away watermelons to first responders

For the second year in a row, Neal Funeral Home of Cleveland is giving away watermelons to all first responders from Liberty, San Jacinto and East Montgomery counties.

Neal Funeral Home owner Bryan Neal says the watermelon giveaway is his way of thanking the first responders for the service they provide the community.

Neal personally made the trek to Pennington Farms in Grapeland, Texas, Monday morning to pick up the 1,000 melons.

The melons are now on the lawn of the funeral home, located at 200 S. Washington Ave.

Any first responder, including wrecker drivers, is invited to pick up a watermelon while supplies last.

Neal additionally is offering the melons to community residents whose funeral needs have been served by Neal Funeral Home.
