Back to School Spectacular returns to Cleveland on Aug. 2

The City of Cleveland is hosting its Annual Back to School Spectacular on Friday, Aug. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cleveland Civic Center, 210 Peach Ave.

“We are encouraging all K-5th grade students to come to the event to get supplies to start the school year. Without the community involvement, we cannot continue to have a positive impact in helping our youth prosper,” said Ashleigh Broussard, special events coordinator for the City of Cleveland.

Some of the vendors expected to be at the event are a Christian motorcycle group whose members will be here handing out supplies and allowing kids to take pictures with their motorcycles, CISD Transportation employees and school nurses who will be giving out important information to parents. McDonalds is bringing a Lion King theme booth hosting an outdoor activity for the kids and the Health Center of Southeast Texas has also donated a large number of backpacks to the event.

“We are also looking for more vendors, local businesses, churches, etc., to participate in giving supplies and or hosting an outdoor activity for the kids,” Broussard said.

Children must be present to receive school supplies.
