Liberty Health Care Center joins Dayton Chamber of Commerce

Liberty Health Care Center Director Brent Gardebled cuts the ribbon to officially be welcomed into the Dayton Chamber of Commerce.

The Dayton Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome new member, Liberty Health Care Center, 1206 N. Travis St. Liberty Health Care Center (LHCC) is a skilled nursing facility under the direction of Brent Gardebled. LHCC and its sister facility, Cleveland Health Care Center, are part of Health Services Management of Texas.

LHCC is home to about 80 residents, Gardebled said.

“We have people who come here to recover from surgery after they are released from the hospital. We have people who have had amputations and need a wound care specialist. We have a wound care specialist,” he said. “We have full-time therapists – occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy. We have a full-time nursing staff and have quite a few physicians who do rounds. We have a nurse practitioner who comes in three days a week and our medical director comes in once a week.”

Some of the patients who come to LHCC are revisiting after a previous stay, which Gardebled said is a testimony to the quality of care they receive.

“As things change with hospitals, they are starting to discharge patients sooner and sooner, so we are seeing a lot of people who just need a little help before going home. The family members try to do it themselves, but they get worn out and look to us for help,” he said.

Unlike other nursing facilities, LHCC is a non-profit organization. Funds raised by Health Services Management of Texas help fund a boys’ ranch in Tennessee.

“It’s a Christian-based organization. Any of the proceeds go to fund the boys’ ranch, which works with boys of all ages. It’s a good cause,” said Gardebled.
