Double-shooting on Sunday in Shepherd leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

Investigators with the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office are still piecing together the circumstances that led to a double-shooting Sunday night on the 13000 block of US 59 South in Shepherd.

According to Det. Gary Sharpen, spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, one male was killed and another male was transported to a local hospital. The surviving victim’s condition is unknown at this time. Both males are believed to be between the ages of 18-22.

Sharpen said witnesses at the scene are being interviewed by investigators as of Sunday evening. Some of the stories appear to be conflicting, he added.

The investigation is ongoing. As soon as more information is known, an update will be posted.
