The man found in a roadside ditch along the US 59 feeder road in Cleveland near Walmart on Sunday has been identified as a 20-year-old Magnolia man, Brandon Jace Harris.
Early Sunday morning, Aug. 18, Cleveland Police Department received a call in regards to a person lying on their stomach in a ditch near the intersection of US 59 and SH 105.
Cleveland police officers responded and located an unresponsive 20-year-old male. Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and determined the male did not have any signs of life. Pct. 6 Justice of the Peace Ralph Fuller was called to the scene to hold an inquest and made the pronouncement of death.
Detective John Shaver investigated the circumstances surrounding the death.
The male was transported to the Forensic Medical Management Services of Texas, where an autopsy was performed.
“As of this time, we do not suspect foul play involved. We are currently waiting for complete autopsy and toxicology reports. We want to ensure a complete investigation is conducted before making a final determination regarding the manner of death,” said Capt. Scott Felts, spokesperson for Cleveland Police Department.
