Dorothy Mae McWhorter Aslandes

Dorothy Mae McWhorter Aslandes, 90, of Tarkington, Texas passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019. Mrs. Aslandes was born January 8, 1929 in Houston, Texas to parents Derrill McWhorter and Mary Rose Lange McWhorter.

Services for Dorothy will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mrs. Aslandes attended school in Galena Park graduating from Galena Park High School in 1947. She was previously of Cloverleaf, Huffman and Baytown. She worked for Champion Paper Mill in Sheldon and volunteered at the I.T. May Center in Huffman. Dorothy was a very talented artist and loved sharing her works.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Mamie McWhorter, brother Charles Harold McWhorter, sister Betty Joyce Kilough and great-grandchild Justin Smith. Dorothy is survived by her children, Donna Smith, Earlene Hand Hines and Bobbie Hand Howard; grandchildren, Travis Weldon Smith, Jr., Wendy Daigle and husband Steven, James Lee Smith, Thomas Wayne Smith, Ryan Singler, Katrina Hines Faltysek; ten great-grandchildren; numerous great great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews, other relatives and friends.
