Horace Kemper Platt

Horace Kemper Platt, 78, of Dayton, Texas passed away Friday, August 23, 2019. Mr. Platt was born December 13, 1940 in Austin, Texas to parents Horace Werth Platt and Violet Marybelle Johnson.

Service for Horace will be 10 a.m., Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Liberty, Texas. The family will receive friends at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before the service.

Mr. Platt lived in the Dayton area for the past 10 years after moving from Liberty. He served in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He worked as a Crane Operator in the construction business. Horace had a love for music, enjoyed being around the water and fishing. He especially loved his grandkids, sitting on the porch, and barbecue gatherings on weekends.

Horace is preceded in death by his parents, sister Susan Gaines and brother Robert “Bobby” Ceder. Horace is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rose Carlene Allen Platt of Dayton; sons, Dewayne Platt and wife Melissa, and Tommy Platt; sisters, Betty Jean Purvis, Bonnie Depratter, Mary Ann Banks; grandchildren, Christopher, Paige, Brittany, Rachel and Paiten; great-grandchildren, Aria, Noah, Elana, and Abigail; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
