Tarkington man killed in crash

A 20-year-old Tarkington man was tragically killed Monday night when he crashed his vehicle into a tree.

According to Sgt. Rob Willoughby, spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety, Matthew Leal was traveling south on CR 2285 at an unsafe speed when he lost control of his 1995 Chevy Suburban, left the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle rolled over, ejecting Leal.

Leal was pronounced dead at the scene by Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace Wade Brown.

The accident was investigated by DPS Trooper Trevor Whatley.
