Hal Crosby McClelland

Hal Crosby McClelland, age 64, of Austin, Texas, passed away Monday, September 23, 2019. He was born September 27, 1954 in Cleveland, Texas to parents Bidwell Cranfill McClelland, Jr. and Jeane Walton McClelland who preceded him in death along with his maternal grandparents, W.L. Baldwin and Lila Crosby Walton Baldwin; paternal grandparents, Bidwell Cranfill McClelland, Sr. and Florence Smith McClelland; and uncle, Lawrence Jay McClelland.

Hal was a member of the Cleveland High School graduation class of 1973. During his time at Cleveland High School and continuing throughout his entire life, Hal was instrumental in building and maintain the Cleveland Indian Baseball and Softball Parks. His volunteer work in helping to establish and maintain baseball/softball parks all over the state will be remembered for years to come. Hal’s professional career included being the Field Coordinator for The University of Texas Woman’s Softball Complex for 23 ears.

Hal started dating Gina in 1994. They went on to get married in 2006 and welcomed Crosby in 2010. Hal treated everyone he encountered with love and respect. Hal never met a stranger, loved music of all kinds and had a remarkable memory.

Survivors include his wife, Gina Christelle McClelland; son, Crosby Harrison McClelland; sister, Sue McClelland Hayes; brothers-in-law, Michael Hayes and Jason Labus; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2019 at First Baptist Church Cleveland officiated by Bro. Carl Williamson. Interment will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. There will be a reception immediately following the service at the Hal McClelland Baseball Field at Cleveland High School lasting until 7:00 p.m.
