Charlotte Catherine Taylor Sheffield

Charlotte Catherine Taylor Sheffield, 70, of Dayton passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Charlotte was born February 13, 1949 in Nacogdoches, Texas to parents A.C. Taylor and Celestine Doucette Taylor.
A memorial service for Mrs. Sheffield will be 1:00 p.m., November 7, 2019 at the Hillside Church in Mont Belvieu.
Charlotte had been a resident of Dayton for over 20 years. She was a graduate of Woodson High School in 1967 and Prairie View A&M where she majored in music and elementary education. She also received a certificate of completion from Maranatha Bible Institute. Charlotte worked for GTE Telephone Company in the 1970’s and worked at J.M. Huber for fifteen years until retirement. She worked at Foleys department store for several years as well until early retirement. She enjoyed reading, especially Danielle Steele and Sidney Sheldon. She also enjoyed playing Crazy 8 and Spades. Charlotte played the piano and trumpet in her college years and soon after played piano for different churches in surrounding areas. Music was a great part of her life. She most of all enjoyed her time on the phone with her family and friends.
Mrs. Sheffield was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Robert Sheffield. She is survived by her sister, Loleta Taylor; her daughter, Monique Papillion and step-son, James Trey Sheffield.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later time.
