Sheriff’s Posse wraps up T-shirt fundraiser during TVE rodeo

Members of the Liberty County Sheriff's Mounted Posses donated their time at the TVE Rodeo in Liberty to sell the remaining T-shirts that were part of a fundraiser for injured deputy, Richard Whitten.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is offering kudos to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse.

“There were several T-shirts still in stock from the Deputy Richard Whitten fundraiser of a few months ago, and Donna Wiebelhaus, coordinator for the Mounted Posse, picked them up from Ms. Shirley Jackson’s office. Donna, along with her fellow Mounted Posse members, raised over $600 by selling the shirts and accepting donations at the TVE parking lot they were working during the recent rodeo,” Capt. Ken DeFoor, LCSO spokesperson.

DeFoor said the volunteers showed true dedication and concern for LCSO Dep. Whitten who was severely wounded in a shoot-out with a murder suspect who killed two people and wounded a third. Whitten is still undergoing rehab at a Houston facility.

“It displays further that our law enforcement family members who are injured or in need are never forgotten. Again, a salute for a job well done by the LCSO Mounted Posse,” DeFoor said.
