Dayton man killed in shooting incident

Authorities are still investigating what led to a fatal shooting overnight at a residence on the 600 block of CR 685 in the Dayton area.

According to Capt. Ken DeFoor, spokesperson for the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, preliminary information suggests that late Monday night or early Tuesday morning a domestic disturbance between a man and wife ended with the couple’s son shooting the father.

“The son got involved in the fight and the dad got shot by the son,” DeFoor said. “The father is deceased.”

The investigation is still ongoing, so information is preliminary only and may change as more facts about the case are discovered. The names of the persons involved are not being released at this time.
