Five months after a man’s body was found lying on a bed inside an outbuilding behind a residence in Coldspring, the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office is still hoping to determine what led to the man’s murder.
On June 22, 2019, the body, later identified as William Stone, was reported to the sheriff’s office. Stone’s body was sent to the Harris County Medical Examiner for an autopsy, which was completed and returned to the sheriff’s office on Monday.
“There are no credible leads at this time. It is known Stone was a heavy drug user and there have been several rumors of possible suspects, but none have been credible. The rumor of his cell phone being used by a suspect was proven not credible after further investigation,” said San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers in an emailed statement.
The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division, along with the cooperation of the Texas Rangers, are asking for any other leads into this case. If anyone knows anything about this death please calls the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office at 936-653-4367, and ask to speak with a Detective and or CrimeStoppers to stay completely anonymous at 1-800-392-STOP or 1-800-392-7867. I actually do not believe there are no leads. I know people that have expressed their concerns, opinions and theories that had more information that the public has been given. So…just because someone is ” a heavy drug user” some how justifies his death? Bill Stone was the son of two very special people here in Coldspring, they’ve both been pillars of society, they’ve lived here for most of their lives, and both never called anywhere else home, until Mr Stone passed. The community adored them and likewise. That alone should be reason to hound this person (s) down. Bill was surely not perfect, had his battles with alcohol and drugs. They were, I’m sure, the demons that caused his death. But, he was a son, a brother, and my friend. He had a lot of friends at his funeral, many, as matter of fact. The majority of us were there pay our respect OUR friend. The majority of us not are drug people. I don’t give a fat rats butt if Bill used are not. He’s dead, he was murdered, his mother’s heart is forever broken, and I expect someone to make it right. Before we start throwing stones at the drug person’s house, you better get out of your glass house. Those drug people have friends that care about them unconditionally, just as Jesus does us, and they may throw a stone back in his defense. Who Kill Bill? Somebody right here in Coldspring, Texas San Jacinto County, KNOWS!!!
